The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, said it has released one cargo of 44 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ensure availability of the product across the country for the Easter Celebrations.
This is contained in a statement signed by Garba Deen Mohammed, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, on Friday, March 25 in Abuja.
The statement read: “Our immediate concern is to make petrol available through the interventions and processes put in place so that the queues will disappear within the next one to two weeks.”
“As at 4 p.m today, one PMS cargo containing 42 million litres has completely discharged.
“Two more PMS cargos with a combined ‘Remaining on Board’ (ROB) of 44 million litres are currently discharging while another PMS cargo containing 44 million litres is berthed and awaiting discharge,” it said.
According to the statement, the corporation have enough products lined up to ensure that the supply gap which created the problem is bridged.
It added that in order to ensure effective distribution, NNPC would work with Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), oil majors and over 1,000 NNPC staff nationwide to overcome the obstacles in the distribution of the products.
The Group Managing Director of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, Taiwo Adeniyi has attributed the company’s product diversification to enhancement of shareholder value.

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Federal Operation Unit Zone `A`, last week said it seized vehicles and other contraband with Duty Paid Value, DPV, estimated at N360.19 million.
The Area Controller of the unit, Comptroller Mohammed Umar, announced this in a statement issued by the Zonal Public Relation Officer, Mr Uche Ejieseme, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
According to the statement, the unit made 268 different seizures and arrested 34 suspects.
The seizures include 3,374 bags of rice; 11,854 cartons of poultry products; 23 vehicles and 2,003 kegs of vegetable oil.
Others are textile materials, foot wares, bags, used tyres, fridges, furniture, soap and detergents.
The statement added that a truck load of 1,198 fairly used tyres was intercepted by the controllers Monitoring Team `B` Idiroko Axis led by Assistant Controller Jatau Micah.
The statement quoted the controller as saying “the command had raised the standard of its anti-smuggling campaign. This is evident from the quantity of seizures made in recent times.”
The federal government said it has granted 25 private refinery licences to companies between 2002 and now based on reviewed guidelines for refineries in the country.
The Department of Petroleum Resources,DPR, which made this known fact in a statement, said 21 firms were granted in the Licence to Establish (LTE) category, while four were given in the Approval to Construct (ATC) category.
The statement said three of the 25 licensed companies are billed to construct conventional stick-build plants while 22 will construct modular units with a proposed combined refining capacity of 1,429,000 barrels per day.
The DPR said it granted Licence to Establish to 21 companies with a validity period of 18 months in 2002, adding that in 2004, 17 out of the earlier granted LTE were granted Approval to Construct for a 24 month validity period
The agency said in 2007,it reviewed the existing guidelines and a new guiding document, “Guidelines for the Establishment of Hydrocarbon Processing Plants in Nigeria” was introduced to ensure that only committed investors were licensed.
At the end of the four-day trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, movement indicates that the NSE All-Share Index and marker capitalization jumped by 205.12 points and N70 billion to close at 25,899.91 and N8.909 trillion respectively.
Similarly, all other Indices finished lower during the week, with the exception of the NSE main board index, NSE 30 Index, NSE banking index and the NSE consumer goods index that increased by 1.68 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.37 per cent and 4.96 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, a turnover of 1.552 billion shares worth N10.453 billion in 14,994 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the exchange in contrast to a total of 11.907 billion shares valued at N18.338 billion that exchanged hands last week in 19,508 deals.
The financial services industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1.187 billion shares valued at N7.298 billion traded in 10,457 deals; thus contributing 76.49 per cent and 69.82 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The consumed goods industry followed with 160.334 million shares worth N1.547 billion in 2,167 deals. The third place was occupied by the conglomerates industry with a turnover of 79.549 million shares worth N122.754 million in 527 deals.
Trading in the top three equities during the week are; Zenith Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and United Capital Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 536.253 million shares worth N5.852 billion in 4,735 deals, contributing 34.55 per cent and 55.98 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
On day by day transactions, the week open Monday on a positive note with additional N71 billion to the market capitalization of equities.
Also positive sentiment trailed the equities market as the All Share Index enjoyed 208.16 basis points increase, effectively driving the index to 25,902.95 points. Also, market activity as implied by the total value and volume traded increased by 9.3 per cent and 85.6 per cent to settle at N2.07 billion traded and 412.5 million units respectively.
Sentiments mixed across the key sectors mainly driven by price appreciation seen in Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank that led financial services sector to 1.7 per cent gain. The industrial goods sector also observed a 1.7 per cent return on the back of gains of 1.8 per cent in Dangote Cement.

A suspected suicide bomber intercepted in northern Cameroon at the weekend before she could blow herself up claimed to be one of the 219 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in the Nigerian town of Chibok in 2014, military and local government sources said.
Two girls carrying explosives were stopped by local self-defense forces in the village of Limani, in an area of northern Cameroon that has been the target of frequent suicide bombings in recent months.
They were then handed over to Cameroonian soldiers belonging to a multi-national force set up to take on Boko Haram.
In a high-profile attack that sparked a global outcry, Boko Haram militants raided the school in April 2014 while the girls were taking exams. They loaded 270 of them onto trucks, though around 50 escaped shortly afterwards.
“One of them indeed declared that she is one of the Chibok hostages. She is around 15. We are now verifying, because on the Nigerian side they have the names and photos of these girls,” said local government administrator Raymond Roksdo.
Two military sources, who asked not to be identified as they were not authorised to speak to the press, also confirmed that the girl had claimed to have been one of the Chibok abductees.
“We need a few days to be able to confirm this information. We have to debrief all the men who were present and interrogate the two girls before we can say anything,” one of the military sources said.
Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan was criticised for his slow reaction to the Chibok abductions, seen by many as indicative of his response to Boko Haram, which at its strongest held large swathes of northeastern Nigeria.
It was nearly a month before a fact-finding committee traveled to Chibok to establish whether the abduction actually happened and how many girls were missing.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who defeated Jonathan in an election last year, ordered a new investigation into the kidnappings in January.

The committee set up by the Federal Government to probe contracts awarded by the Office of the National Security Adviser from 2011 to 2015 indicted the 18 officials and other aides to the immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
A reliable source sad that some of the officials of the ONSA were believed to have awarded fictitious contracts to themselves through proxies in a bid to divert public funds.
The panel had indicted a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Security and Intelligence, Mr. Bello Matawalle; a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Dr. Tunji Olagunju; a former Principal General Staff Officer at the ONSA.
Brig.-Gen A.S Mormoni-Bashir; a Director at the ONSA, Ambassador Clement Layiwola; a former aide to the NSA, Col. Bello Fadile (retd.); and a former Director of Finance and Administration at the ONSA, Alhaji Shuaibu Salisu, among others.
A reliable source said some of the 18 officials might have connived with the principal suspects to perpetrate fraud.
It was also gathered that the EFCC was also investigating some firms and individuals for non-payment of Value Added Tax and other taxes on the contracts they were awarded at the NSA office.
The Presidency had, on Friday, revealed that 300 individuals and firms were indicted over contracts awarded by the ONSA between 2011 and 2015.
The firms were indicted by a committee set up by the Federal Government to probe contracts. The companies include Julius Berger PLC and Daar Investment and Holdings Limited.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had, in a statement on Thursday, said the committee on the latest probe was different from the committee investigating the Defence Arms and Equipment Procurement.
He added that the committee discovered that there was a total disregard for salient provisions of the Public Procurement Act in the award of contracts by ONSA.

Her injuries are serious enough to warrant urgent surgery in one of the hospitals.
Queen is no doubt in pains. At a point, she bled profusely from her private part. Her father, who hails from Imiringi, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, allegedly started to defile her at the age of 11.
He was alleged to have serially raped and eventually impregnated her. Then he forced her to abort a four-month-old pregnancy through a crude process that currently threatens her life.
Queen told Operation Rescue (OPER), a human rights group, led by Princess Elizabeth Egbe, that she ran away from the house when she could no longer bear her father’s devilish craving.
She said: “There was nobody to help me. He kept doing it despite my efforts to stop him. It was a painful and violent experience. I ran away from home because there was a time I bled so much from my private part.”
Sobbing, she said: “When I became pregnant and he heard about it, he handed me over to a lady who took me through an unsuccessful process of abortion. I have been suffering series of health issues after the abortion.”
Speaking on the travails of his niece, her uncle, David Apigi, expressed shock at the way she was allegedly violated by her father.
He said: “My niece told me the trauma she has been passing through in her father’s house and how her father has been using her, turning her to his second wife.
“She said he had sex with her to the extent that he aborted her four-month-old pregnancy. She ran to me and begged me not to allow her to return to her father’s house because she was tired. I decided to accommodate her. The father started looking for her without knowing she was with me.”
He said he reported the matter to the Kolo Police Station but asked them to hold on to enable him make some investigations. He said after his investigations, he called his cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja who reported the matter to the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
But FIDA was sluggish in the way it handled the matter, Apigi noted. “My cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja called FIDA to inform them about the situation. But the way FIDA was going about the issue was too sluggish for my liking. I decided to contact the Operation Rescue.
“We went back to the police and the Otuasiga Police Station arrested the man. The process through which the Otuasiga Police Station was handling the case was not satisfactory.
“Imagine a situation where somebody was arrested and while in detention he was still having access to his phone, making calls. He even called me. He called my uncle, trying to plead with him for settlement. I moved the case to Kolo Police Station.”
He said his niece’s father was notorious for sexual perversion, alleging also that he had slept with his biological sisters. He said the suspect repeatedly had carnal knowledge of his cousin’s daughter and forced her to commit abortion five times.
He said some of his victims were ready to testify against him.
Egbe also lamented the condition of the girl and called on the society to protect the girl-child.
She said: “Our investigations showed that the little girl had been perpetually raped by her father who impregnated her and forced her through abortion that has left her with so many health problems.
“When the girl was pregnant, she did not know. Her stepmother discovered she was pregnant and informed the father. The father handed her over to a lady who took her to a quack doctor for an abortion.
“After the abortion, the girl came back home and discovered she was bleeding from her private part. The father took her to that same lady who then took her to other places. The girl is still in pains and highly traumatised. She has been going through series of medical treatments.
“We want the police to really investigate this matter and get to the root of the case. We want the doctor to be arrested, and we want everybody that is involved to be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other people who are involved in this act of perpetual evil against the girl-child. The girl-child is tender and has a lot to contribute to nation-building.”
The Federal Government has launched a community-based single register for the poor and vulnerable aimed at reducing extreme poverty in the country.
Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo launched the register at the end of a three-day Social Protection Cross-Learning Conference in Abuja.
Osinbajo was represented at the conference by Mrs Maryam Uwais, the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment.
The Vice President said that about 120 million Nigerians, representing 60 per cent of the population, lived on less than two dollars per day.
“For us as a government, tackling this problem is crucial to ensuring inclusive growth where all Nigerians are part of the country’s development process.
“In our resolve to address this problem, we decided to formulate a National Social Safety Net Programme (NASSAP) which is a single register that would remove errors of inclusion and exclusion.
“ It will also insulate beneficiaries selection from political influence and traditional distortions,’’ Osinbajo said.
He added that the single register was established on the basis of a well-thought out community-based target approach where communities would be able to identify the poor households from among themselves.
Osinbajo said, a manual had been developed that would guide the establishment of the register of the poor, pointing out that, “it would guide them to ensure that State Governments, development partners and other interested organisations have confidence in the process.”
“This platform can then be utilised for their own interventions given our current limited resources, the need to maximise the benefits of the use of single register cannot be overemphasised.’’
Mr Muhammad Wudil, Chairman House Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Services, said that the committee was working hard to reduce poverty in the country.
Wudil disclosed that the committee had resolved to reduce poverty to minimal level within the next four years.
“We are working hard to meet the first target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on addressing poverty by supporting programmes that would create jobs and alleviate poverty,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, information obtained on the single register manual for poor and vulnerable indicate that it would redress the inability of previous efforts to address poverty.
The manual indicated that first round of the single register established across seven states of Bauchi, Cross River, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Osun and Oyo was a product of Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO).
The three-day conference was organised by National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO).
NASSCO is under the Office of the Vice President and it is working in collaboration with Youth Employment and Social Support Operation of the Federal Ministry of Finance. End.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, gave directives to all Assistant Inspectors General (AIG) and Commissioners of Police to ensure a tight security at key worships places, traveling points, picnic areas and every area where many people may be gathered during the Easter break.
In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole in Abuja, he directed all commissioners to personally ensure that all key and vulnerable points and all places of public resort are adequately and effectively protected.

It stated that Inalegwu directed all area commanders and divisional police officers to deploy officers adequately to the aforementioned points to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
The statement said that to complement the area commands and divisions, plainclothes and uniformed policemen should be deployed to man all entry and exit points in the territory.
It assured FCT residents of adequate security during Easter.

National Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Femi Durojaiye, has called on embattled actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima to obey a court order and step down as the President of the guild for Emeke Ike, another actor to take-over.
The statement issued by Durojaiye stated that Fiberesima-Egbuka should step down immediately as the president of the body for Emeka Ike takes over.
It would be recalled that Ike and Fiberesima-Egbuka had had a running battle on who should occupy the position of the president of the AGN.
The statement read: “The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos at the application and argument of counsel to the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr Peter Andor Oboyi, struck out Ibinabo and the Board of Trustees’ (BoT) suit challenging the nullification of her election.
“The implication of this judgment is that the Emeka Ike- led executive council remains the only authentic and lawful leaders of Actors Guild of Nigeria.
“The Honourable Court vehemently reiterated the position of the judicial authority that, Ibinabo Fiberesima-Egbuka, her purported executive council members and the Board of Trustees (BoT) to vacate forthwith the office of AGN both at the National and State levels.
“Accordingly, they should surrender all AGN assets in their possessions to the incumbent, Emeka Ike’s Government.’’
Meanwhile, the embattled actress has been jailed by another Lagos State High Court having been found guilty of drunk driving and murder of a young medical doctor.
The teacher in the middle of the sexual harassment saga at Queen’s College, Yaba, Mr Olaseni Oshifala, has been detained by the police.
A member of staff of the school said the embattled biology teacher accused of sexually molesting a yet-to-be-identified JSS2 pupil, reported at the police station on Monday but was not allowed to go home.
That was not the first time he had been to the police over the case.
He had previously visited the police to complain about the “false accusations” against him.
He said he was being targeted by people jealous of his success in the school.
Meanwhile, a protest planned by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), the union to which teachers of the college belong for Wednesday, was called off.
Chairman of the Queen’s College chapter of the union, Comrade Abiodun Oladejo, said the protest was suspended to avoid it being hijacked by unwanted elements.
“We called it off to avoid violence and misunderstanding of our position on the issue,” he said.
A source also mentioned that while the members of the panel set up by the Minister of State for Education, Prof Anthony Onwuka, was yet to arrive at the college, many more others, including representatives of UNICEF, Lagos State government, visited the college yesterday to investigate the allegations.
The source also said the commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, met with some members of staff.
“We are expecting the ministerial panelists. So many organizations are coming around to investigate the case – UNICEF, Lagos State House of Assembly, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Sports, etc. About 10 members of staff met with the Commissioner of Police today,” the source said.
This action is following a call by the Queen’s College Old Girls’ Association (QCOGA) for a criminal investigation of the case.
Federal Government of Nigeria has expanded its scope on probe of the alleged embezzlement of 48 billion naira ($241.45 million) through overpaid defense contracts or fraud, office of the presidency said.
A new set of 300 including army officers, firms and other individuals have been accused of been onvolved in the heist.
President Muhammadu Buhari included eradicating curruption reducing it to its barest minimum sacked or investigated dozens of officials that served under his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, and ordered an audit of key government bodies such as state oil firm NNPC.
“A committee set up to probe contracts awarded by the Office of the National Security Adviser from 2011 to 2015 has indicted more than 300 companies and prominent citizens including serving and retired officers of the armed forces,” the presidency said in a statement.
The companies and individuals, some of which were listed in the statement, had repaid more than 7 billion naira to the state and were expected to return a further 41 billion naira, the statement said.
“Several contractors were apparently overpaid, while others were given full upfront payments contrary to their contract terms and agreements in force,” it said.
Another firm was given 7.9 million euros ($8.83 million) and $7.09 million in overpaid contracts, according to the statement.
One of those indicted was Sambo Dasuki, Jonathan’s security adviser, the first former official put on trial for graft.
A similar committee has accused Dasuki of fraud involving $68 million of defense spending, part of a wider $2.1 billion in arms deals that are under scrutiny. He has denied the charges.
A former Chief of Defense Staff, Army Staff, Alex Badeh has also been charged to court by EFCC for case his role in the defense budget.
Jonathan’s supporters denied that corruption increased during his presidency, saying Buhari was conducting a witch-hunt against members of the former president’s People’s Democratic Party.

Performance Evaluation – Drive the performance appraisal system. Follow up with Managers and Departmental Head for completing the performance appraisal on time.
Coordinates and assists manager with employee reviews and performance appraisals.
Lead the Performance Development Review Process and work with key staff in all facets relating to performance management (taking the workforce from “good” to “great”)

Physical Demands:

Findings have revealed that revenues from ticket sales by foreign airlines, salary emoluments from expatriate pilots and engineers, and cost of aircraft maintenance overseas have climbed to over $4 billion yearly.
The National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, NANTA, revealed that as much as $2.3 billion was generated by Nigerian travel agents in 2014 from ticket sales for foreign airlines and tour services.
Of this amount, $1.4 billion was generated from ticket sales alone. Besides travel agents, foreign airlines sell tickets through the banks, airports and city offices, which generate almost the same amount with the travel agents.
Checks from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, revealed an increase in passenger movements, particularly overseas travels, notwithstanding the sliding economy. It was confirmed that overseas travel has been rising steadily as more airlines increase their frequencies to Nigerian destinations.
Apart from ticket sales and services, the Nigerian aviation industry is highly dependent on foreign personnel for aircraft maintenance, aircraft parts acquisition and services.
Major technical personnel from pilots of modern aircraft fleet, including business jets, which are over 140 in the country are majorly maintained overseas and largely have foreign cockpit crew, as many of them have foreign registration.
According to NANTA, foreign airlines record the highest foreign exchange remittances out of Nigeria, after oil and gas and mobile phone companies.
“Majority of pilots operating in Nigeria are foreigners, the same with aircraft engineers, they are paid in dollars. Aircraft parts are paid for in dollars, simulator training for pilots are done overseas and are paid for in dollars; so after oil, the industry makes the highest demand on foreign exchange,” said a Nigerian pilot, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Russia’s plan to export more crude oil to Europe in April than it had exported in any month since 2013 is threatening a global agreement between the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, and non-OPEC members on freezing production in a bid to lift the price of crude oil.
Reuters has reported that this development shows how hard it would be to enforce the forthcoming agreement that is due to be finalized on April 17 in Qatar.
It also shows the potential for countries to use loopholes to keep exporting crude, and erode the intended impact on prices.
This is coming as the price of Brent crude oil dipped by 2.3 per cent on Thursday and West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark price for crude oil, lost by 2.7 per cent.
Crude oil prices are down nearly five per cent from Monday for one of their worst weeks of the year.
Moscow said the agreement on freeze between OPEC and non-OPEC covered only production and not sales abroad, hence the country can raise exports while keeping production flat by re-routing some crude oil away from refineries and into exports.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Wednesday that the deal may be meaningless, while Iran and Libya have said they will not participate, at least for now, and they also plan to raise production.
