Ademola Adeleke has been declared as the validly elected governor of Osun state by the Court of Appeal.
A three-member panel of justices ruled in Adeleke’s appeal on Friday, concluding that the election tribunal made an error in finding that Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had established their claim of excessive voting.
Adeleke is the lawfully elected governor of the state, according to the jury that rendered its judgment on Friday.
Oyetola was able to demonstrate that there was excessive voting in some of the polling places, according to the Osun Governorship Election Tribunal’s ruling in January.
As a result, the majority decision of the tribunal authorized INEC to cancel the certificate of return issued to Adeleke and issue a new one to Oyetola as the legitimately elected governor of Osun.
Adeleke filed an appeal with the court of appeal after being dissatisfied with the decision.
