The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, said the force has increased distribution of aircrafts to the Niger Delta to reduce the activities of militants. He made this disclosure during the inauguration of projects at the Air Force Base, Yola.
“As we speak, we have intensified our deployment of aircrafts to the Niger Delta Region to deal with the emerging threat of economic sabotage perpetrated by a group of criminals. We shall not relent nor rest our oars until we ensure the protection of every inch of the country’s territory and infrastructure.” Abubakar said.
He noted that the inauguration of projects at the Yola Air Force base was part of measures to improve the welfare of personnel, re- position the force and to also help reduce pressure on existing office facilities and residential accommodations.
In his welcome address, the Commander, 75 Strike Group, Yola, who is also the Air Component Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Commodore Pete Uzezi, lauded the Chief of Air Staff for his commitment in addressing the problem of infrastructure at the base.
The projects inaugurated include Wing building/pilot crew room, accommodation quarters, officers mess and Apron.
Dignitaries at the occasion include Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla of Adamawa and Senate Leader, Ali Ndume.
