The BET Awards and the Grammy Museum have selected some African artists’ works to be showcased at the “Sounds of Africa” Exhibition which seeks to celebrate the unique diversity of African music, and spotlight African winners and nominees of both the Grammy Awards and the BET Awards.
The works of Grammy-award winner Angélique Kidjo, Legendary Singer/songwriter Sir Victor Uwaifo, Singer/songwriter Salif Keita, Singer/songwriter and producer 2Baba, Rumba singer/songwriter and bandleader Tabu Ley Rochereau, Hip-hop artist and actor Ice Prince, Visual artist Laolu Senbanjo, South African duo Mafikizolo, among others will temporarily be on display from Friday, June 24th 2016 until later on this year.
VP BET Youth & Music, VIMN Africa, Monde Twala, said, “It’s fantastic to see the influence of African artists and music amplified in this unique exhibition in this iconic setting.
We are excited about working with the Grammy Museum to create this fascinating tribute to legendary, traditional and contemporary African musicians,” he said.
