Residents of Eletu Royal Estate Community Development Authority in Isheri Oshu, Lagos State, on Saturday celebrated the completion of a N90 million electricity project and the inauguration of a N300 million road project.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event attracted community leaders, government representatives and residents of the area.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Chairman of the CDA, Mr Marshal Ilelaboye, said the projects represent some of the most significant infrastructure developments in the community.
According to him, the N90 million electricity project was funded through collective contributions from residents aimed at improving power supply within the estate.
He said the intervention resulted in an improvement in the community’s electricity classification, moving from Band B to Band A, as well as changes in feeder designation.
Ilelaboye said the community had faced long-standing infrastructural challenges due to its location near the canal, but residents remained committed to improving living conditions through cooperation and sustained investment.
He noted that the road project covers four major Trunk A roads within the estate and appealed to the Lagos State Government for additional support to complete remaining sections of the development plan.
Also speaking, a representative of the Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Mrs Mojisola Badmus, described the projects as a reflection of effective collaboration among stakeholders and pledged continued support for community development initiatives.
Former CDA Chairman, Mr Olayiwola Abdurazak, recalled earlier infrastructural challenges faced by the community and commended the progress achieved under the current leadership.
He said the estate has recorded steady improvements over time and praised the commitment of residents and community leaders.
Chairman of the Central CDA of Isheri-Ijon, Ajaye and White Sand communities, Chief Kazeem Kalejaiyi, described the project commissioning as a milestone and commended the efforts of the CDA leadership.
Secretary of the CDA, Mr Lucky Ireaja, said the community had previously undertaken electricity improvements and established a partnership with the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company to ensure better management of power infrastructure.
Deputy Chief Security Officer of the CDA, Mr Jonathan Itiveh, described the projects as a major achievement driven by strong community participation and leadership commitment.
A resident, Mr Patrick Nkencho, said infrastructure development such as electricity and road networks remains essential for community growth and expressed optimism about the continued development of the estate.
The event also featured a free medical outreach sponsored by the CDA Chairman, focusing on blood pressure and blood sugar checks for residents.
