Sam Allardyce has told talkSPORT Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed ‘the best honeymoon period’ he has ever seen in football, but it may not be enough to earn him the Manchester United job full-time.
The Norwegian has rejuvenated the Red Devils since he took charge in December, leading the side to ten wins, a draw and one defeat – against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League – from 12 games.

His next big test comes in the form of Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday – a game which could prove to be another audition for the permanent role.
A whole host of fans and former players have called for United to give Solskjaer the job after his impressive start, while some of the current Red Devils squad have also spoken glowingly about the Old Trafford legend.
And while Big Sam agrees about the amazing impact he has made at the club, lifting the gloom that had descended under axed boss Jose Mourinho, he concedes such a huge job may have come too soon into his managerial career.
Speaking on Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Allardyce said of Solskjaer: “His honeymoon period has been the best I’ve ever known any manager have.
“I went six games unbeaten when I first when to Everton, but Ole won eight on the trot, drew one and won two more games before slipping up in the Champions League against PSG.
“So yes, you’d say he’s done enough at the moment.
“It’s all going alright so why do anything? Why upset the apple cart? Wait until the end of the season and see what the situation is then, and I’m sure that’s what Manchester United are doing.

“I’m sure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love the club to say, ‘yes you can have the job now and we’ll sort it out’.
“But it’s a big, big decision for Manchester United. The next manager HAS to be right.
“Ole has got all the right credentials in terms of his history with the club, but he’s still lacking managerial experience.”
