The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed concern about the prevalence of fake redesigned naira notes in circulation, while promising to continue arresting and prosecuting those involved in producing and circulating the fake notes.
The corps’ commandant-general, Ahmed Audi on Sunday said that the number of cases of circulation of fake naira notes had become concerning.
He warned perpetrators to stop, adding that the corps would not back down and would continue to arrest and prosecute those involved in economic sabotage of the country.

Audi said that the corps arrested and seized fake naira notes worth millions from members of syndicates in various states in less than a month.
“Many innocent Nigerians must have fallen victim to their scheme while they collected bank money transfers and exchange of foreign currencies.
“The arrest of these syndicates will help us fish out more criminals who have decided to take advantage of the economic situation in the country to scam people,” he said.
The CG also advised Nigerians to avoid becoming victims of fraudsters by transacting with banks, especially when large sums are involved.
