Trading Halts Southward Movement as NSE Index Gains 0.44%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, reversed downward trajectory on Thursday, April 14, as benchmark indices jumped by 0.44 percent compared with a loss of 0.1% on Wednesday.

The NSE All-Share Index appreciated by 108.13 points to close at 24,746.04 compared to a decline of 1.57 points to close at 24,637.91 points recorded on Wednesday.

Likewise, Market Capitalization appreciated to N8.5112 trillion from N8.474 trillion as investors exchanged a total 271.66 million shares valued at N1.612 billion in 2,988 deals against 162.5 million shares worth N1.025 billion exchanged in 3,079 deals previously.

Topping the day’s price advancers were Okomuoil Plc, which led with a gain of N3.03 to close at N33.07 per share, followed by WAPCO Plc which increased by 99 kobo to close at N76 per share, while Nigerian Breweries Plc advanced by 48 kobo to close at N107.47 per share. E-tranzact Plc similarly grew by 39 kobo to close at N4.29 per share, while Guaranty Trust Bank Plc added 37 kobo to close at N15.2 per share.

Conversely, UACN Plc led the day’s price losers with a decline of 97 kobo to close at N18.43 per share, trailed by Mobil Plc which lost 8 kobo to close at N149.2 per share. Total Plc also lost 5 kobo to close at N160 while Nascon Allied Plc fell by 39 kobo to close at N7.41 per share. Africa Prudential Registrars Plc similarly recorded a 2 kobo decline in share price to close at N2.41 per share.
