Price of Diesel, Jet A1 Skyrockets Over Dollar Scarcity

Findings have revealed that the pump price of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, also known as diesel, has jumped following the recent increase in the international price of petrol.

Diesel dealers across the nation said the price increase was necessary because they were paying more to get the US dollar at the black market to import the product since the refineries have not been able to churn out adequate AGO volume.

Market survey made by our reporter showed that a litre of diesel currently sold for between N130 and N170, depending on the retail outlet and state where it was purchased.

In Abuja, the price of diesel has climbed to between N130 and N150, per litre, from N125 and N130 after government announced new fuel price.

Findings showed that a major marketer, Total, has increased price of the product to N140 per litre from N130.

Meanwhile, airline passengers across the country, on Monday, May 16, experienced flight delays, following scarcity of aviation fuel known as Jet A1.
