The teachers of Junior Secondary Schools in Kwara State suspended their strike on Monday after Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Emir of Ilorin intervened.

Surprisingly on Tuesday, most of the schools were still under lock and key, Some of the students were reportedly caught unaware and disappointed for not meeting their teachers in school.

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in Kwara State, Abdul Lateef Okandeji, however, commended the teachers for suspending the industrial action.

Mr Okandeji, who is also the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, assured the teachers of the payment of their salary arrears latest by the first quarter of the year.

He urged them to return to the classrooms in the interest of the students.
