Fans Speculate Mourinho to Replace Emery at Arsenal

Mourinho

Out-of-work Jose Mourinho kept a low profile at the Emirates Stadium tonight as Arsenal fans speculated over his attendance for their Europa League game with Vitoria.

Unai Emery ’s Gunners twice came from behind to eventually beat the Portuguese side in the Group F clash.

Arsenal’s Spanish boss is under constant pressure from supporters at present.

And Emery cannot seem to escape from criticism this season as Arsenal continue to show vulnerability at the back with little real cohesion going forward.

A timely brace from record signing Nicolas Pepe clinched three points for the Gunners in front of onlooking Mourinho.

TV cameras at the Emirates failed to pick up the Portuguese, but he was spotted in attendance in an executive box.

Mourinho has been touted as a potential successor to Emery if Arsenal opt to axe the former PSG and Sevilla boss.

Ex-Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Mourinho is waiting for the right role before making his return to the dugout.

A Premier League job is reported to be of much interest to him if one becomes available, and fans have discussed the prospect on Twitter off the back of his secretive appearance

An Arsenal fan suggested: “Perhaps preparing to take Emery’s space.”

And another insisted: “He’s replacing Emery mate”.

One asked: “And was in discussion with anyone?”

“Surely we’ve not sunk that low have we,” a less optimistic fan said.

A confident Arsenal supporter predicted: “I firmly believe Emery’s last game will be at Leicester. Following November international break the next Arsenal manager will be one of Freddie Ljungberg, Rafa Benitez or Jose Mourinho..book it!”
