Chevron Receives Award For Supporting SMEs in Nigeria

Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has received an award for sustaining its support for small businesses in Nigeria. The multi-national oil company won the award at the 4th Sub-Sahara Africa Upstream Oil and Gas summit and exhibition in Abuja.

The summit which was organised by Zenith Professional Training Limited had dignitaries in attendance, among them were representatives of the NNPC, industry regulators, community representatives from the Niger Delta region, as well as participants and industry players from other African countries.

General Manager, Nigerian Content Development (NCD), Ms. Anike Odunlami, received the award on behalf of Chevron.

Odunlami said Chevron was committed to the Nigerian Content Development (NCD), as part of its commitment to local capacity building in the nation’s oil and gas industry.She stressed that the firm was committed to empowering Nigerian service providers and suppliers through human and business capacity development .She also included local patronage, work scope reservation and fostering of business partnerships.

She further explained that CNL has consistently reserved significant portions of job scopes for the benefit of local community contractors in its areas of operation.

She added that the firm also has a strong focus on maintaining compliance in job awards to local contractors on its small, medium and major capital projects. She satated that this is achieved through a standard operating procedure (SOP) to ensure equitable participation of community contractors through CNL’s robust Local Community Content (LCC) policy.
