Factional leader of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chris Giwa revealed his plan to resume office today as the president of the federation, after a Jos High Court overturned Amaju Pinnick’s victory in his favour, this was in spite FIFA’s rule on court cases.
Giwa had challenged the September, 2014 election won by Pinnick, but his case has been ruled out by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
The NFF responded swiftly by filing an appeal to vacate the order and a motion for a stay-of-execution against the judgement of the Jos High Court.
The appeal filed on the same day after the court’s order means the status quo remains ( Pinnick remains NFF president) pending determination of the suit.
In response to the drama, world football governing body FIFA, wrote to inform NFF that the nation may banned if Pinnick was removed as president.
It made clear in FIFA’s letter, dated April 11, 2016, that it would be considered an interference in the internal affairs of NFF if the decision of the Federal High Court in Jos last week was carried out.
Giwa determined to flout these developments has planned to formally assume duty at the NFF glasshouse on Wednesday, April 13.
In a press conference held in Abuja yesterday, Giwa flanked by members of his board insisted that all committees of the NFF have been dissolved and also announced the dissolution of all state FA.
He also insisted the Jos court order that annulled the elections that brought Pinnick and his board into existence clearly installed him as the leader of the NFF.
The Jos born club owner maintained his claim on the statues of the NFF that recognizes the law of the Nigeria as supreme to that of FIFA in legal tussles.
