Stock Market Capitalisation Drops N43.6billion Over Lacklustre Trading

Stock Market Investors Lose N383bn In October
Equities trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Wednesday, July 13, resumed movements south after market activities saw a breather on Tuesday, July 12 with indices recording a modest increase.
As a result of the lacklustre performance, Market capitalisation of the Bourse shed N43.6 billion to close at N9.867 trillion against N15.1 billion gained previously to close at N9.911 trillion.

The banking sector led the day’s activities in terms of volume as Access Bank recorded the highest volume of stocks moved, exchanging 33.3 million shares worth N185.96 million.

Zenith Bank followed with an exchange of 22.5 million shares worth N369.2 million while Guaranty Trust Bank sold 19.34 million shares valued at N462.3 million.
At the end of trading, investors sold a total of 190.3 million shares valued at N2.3 billion in 4,578 deals compared to a total of 207.6 million shares valued at N3.6 billion exchanged previously by investors in 4,542 deals.
