NSE Index Loses 0.05% as Market Heavy Weights Wobble

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Tuesday, September 27, halted a two-consecutive day healthy bull run.

The All Share Index (NSE ASI) lost 14.3 points or 0.05 percent to close at 28,248.86 points compared to 16.09 points gained on Monday when the ASI closed at 28,263.16 points.

Ashaka Cement Plc led the list of declining stocks as its share price fell 9.67 percent or N1.93 to close at N18.02 per share, Presco Plc followed with a decline of 8.89 percent or N4 to close at N41 per share. Caverton lost 8.42 percent or 8 kobo to close at 87 kobo while Conoil Plc decreased 7.69 percent or N3 to close at N36 per share, Oando Oil Plc recorded a depreciation of 4.83 percent or 27 kobo to close at N5.32 per share.

UAC- Property Plc led the day’s gainers with an increase of 10 percent or 34 kobo to close N3.74 per share, Law Union Plc added 7.02 percent or 4 kobo to close at 61 kobo per share. Guinness Nigeria Plc appreciated 4.99 percent or N4.64 to close at N97.64 per share, Cutix Nigeria Plc followed having added 4.93 percent or 10 kobo to close at N2.13 and Flourmills Nigeria Plc rose 4.56 percent or 96 kobo to close at N22 per share.

Market activity as measured by Volume and Value traded, settled at 294.9 million units and N1.4 billion respectively, compared to 249.8 million units and N2 billion traded previously.
