The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for November/December 2022.
Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, Registrar of NECO, made the announcement on Thursday in Minna, Niger state.
According to Wushishi, 59,124 candidates took the exam, with 31,316 males accounting for 52.96 percent and 27,808 females accounting for 47.03 percent.
He added that the number of candidates who sat for English Language is 58,012 out of which 44,162, or 76.13 percent, received Credit and above, while the number of candidates who sat for Mathematics is 57,700, with 43,096, or 74.69 percent, receiving Credit and above.
He also revealed that 33,914 candidates (57.36 percent) received five credits or higher, including English Language and Mathematics.
“Also 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20% got five Credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics,” he said.
Speaking on the issue of examination malpractice, he said, “11,419 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice is , as against 4,454 in 2021, which shows a sharp rise in the number of malpractice cases”.
According to him, this is largely due to improvements in the monitoring officers’ strategy and technique.
“This led to the blacklisting of four supervisors, one each from Rivers and Plateau States and two from Ogun State for aiding and abetting as well as poor supervision,” he said.
According to Wushishi, 29 subjects were examined, as was done in 2021.
