The Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs Samiat Bada, has launched the fourth edition of the council’s free Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training programme to equip residents with in-demand digital skills.
Speaking at the inauguration on Monday, Bada said the initiative reaffirmed the council’s commitment to youth empowerment, digital inclusion and human capital development.
She said the three-month intensive programme would provide participants with practical, industry-relevant skills to improve their employability and entrepreneurial opportunities in the digital economy.
“Today is another opportunity. We are giving our residents the opportunity to learn valuable digital skills that can change their lives,” she said.
According to her, participants will receive practical training in Computer Appreciation, Web Development, Data Analysis and Cyber Security.
The programme will also cover Digital Marketing, Social Media Monetisation, Design and Multimedia, IT Networking and Security, as well as Cloud Fundamentals.
Bada urged participants to remain committed throughout the training, noting that the knowledge acquired could serve as the foundation for successful careers in the technology sector.
She reiterated her administration’s commitment to creating opportunities that empower young people, reduce unemployment and enhance their competitiveness in the global digital economy.
According to her, the initiative reflects the council’s broader goal of promoting innovation, economic growth and sustainable community development.
The inauguration was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the council, Mr Olayinka Ogunleye; the Council Leader, Mr Ismaila Onikosi; the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Kola Omotayo; the Council Manager, Mr Dabiri Saheed; and the Council Treasurer, Mr B. Albert.
The training programme is expected to run for three months and provide participants with hands-on digital skills for careers and business opportunities in the rapidly evolving technology sector.
