Group Chides Slash In Immunization Budget

The Nigerian Partnership For Advocacy In Child and Family Health (PACFAH) has condemned the slashed fund for Routine Immunization (RI) and Polio Eradication from about Eight Billion Naira to half (50%) in the reviewed 2016 budget by the National Assembly.

PACFAH stated that this is upsetting as the funding was tied to two international commitments and this also poses a serious challenge in the country to ensure all eligible children are fully immunized in 2016.

The Programme Manager of CISLAC, Chioma Kanu said that the issue of immunization is not given priority in the budget.

She said “PACFAH family is to resurrect government consciousness on its commitment to the right of the Nigerian children, and raising a choice for children especially with the provision of funds for nutrition and zinc to reduce the outbreak of this killer diseases.”

The Project Director of Health Research Initiative in Nigeria (CHR), Dr. Aminu Magashi, in his presentation, added that “immunization is the way to save lives of our children.”
