Orientation Programme For Intending Corps Members Begins March 27 – NYSC

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced mobilisation schedules for the commencement of 2019 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course programmes for prospective corps members.

According to NYSC management on its Facebook platform, the orientation course programme will commence on Wednesday March 27 across the country and end on Tuesday April 16, 2019.

NYSC had earlier in a statement informed prospective corps members that the processes of registration were free of charge, warning prospective members to be wary of “online canvassers who demand money or any other forms of gratification to facilitate any service”.

The scheme comprises of four main segments in which every corps members must satisfactorily participate before he or she is qualified to be issued a certificate of National Service. These are Orientation Courses, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding-Up/Passing-out.

A service year starts with a three-week orientation course and it is compulsory for all Nigerian graduates mobilised for national service and it is designed to give corps members a better understanding of the objectives of the NYSC Scheme and enable them to internalise its ideals; acquaint members with their environment in their political, cultural, social and economic setting, instill discipline in the youths and to equip them with practical social and leadership skills that will enable them meet the challenges of the service year ahead, among other objectives.
