CBN Earmarks N220bn For Career Development

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has earmarked the sum of N220 billion to fund the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) as well as to enhance business development and empower the teeming youths in the country.

The Governor of CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele made this disclosure at the teens career conference to harness talents and skills of teenagers, organized by The Everlasting Arms Parish (TEAP) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Abuja.

Emefiele stated that one of the measures employed by the apex bank to empower the youths was to discover their God’s given talents and nurture them to boost economy and enhance national growth. He was represented by the CBN deputy governor, Dr. Sarah Omotunde Alade.

He noted that quality education achieved through hard work were the major determining factors for career accomplishment and assured that the CBN proffer workable strategies and would continue to create an enabling environment for the proper upbringing of the youths.

“The CBN has set aside N220 billion to fund SMEs to promote businesses and empower the teeming youths. We have launched a youth empowerment programme in partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to empower serving corps members to harness their unique skills,”he stated.

The Director General of Pension Commission, Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu said nurturing talents and skills of teenagers will discourage their involvement in social vices. She noted that foster human empower, PENCOM has currently saved N5.7 trillion funds belonging to 7.1 subscribers.
