A/Ibom Refutes N17.8bn Allocation

Akwa Ibom proposes N365.251bn for 2017 fiscal year

The government of Akwa Ibom State has refuted a media report purporting that the state received a whopping sum of N17.8 billion as its share of the statutory allocation for the month of July.

The state commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akan Okon decried the media report copiously published on several print and online media, describing the story as misleading and fictitious.

The Finance Commissioner pointed out that a total of N559.03 billion was shared among the federal, states, and local governments by the Federal Account and Allocation Committee (FAAC) and not the N673, 324 billion as reported in the media.

Okon stressed that AkwaIbom received the sum of N7.4 billion( seven billion ,four hundred million naira ) as its own share of statutory allocation for the month of June, shared in July, while the 31 local government areas in the state got the sum of N3.3 billion. He called on journalists to always confirm their facts before rushing to publish them.
