Katsina state governor, Aminu Bello Masari has disclosed that an estimated 13, 000 teachers are required in primary and secondary schools in the state for optimal teaching and learning in the schools.

Masari, who stated this shortly after inspecting an on-going renovation and upgrading of Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Batagarawa and FSP Primary and Secondary School Katsina; said the target of his administration was to have 50 pupils provided with furniture per class for now instead of the prevailing situation of over 150 pupils per class.

“Already, the present administration had given an approval for the recruitment of 1900 teachers mainly in sciences and core subjects with preference for those who had been serving as volunteer teachers for years,” he recalled.

At Batagarawa, he was taken round by an official of the state Science and Technical Education Board, Gambo Mashi, where he inspected construction of additional three dormitories and one additional block of classrooms.

Also at FSP School in katsina metropolis, he inspected the ongoing state-of-the-art laboratories and 300 sitting capacity examination hall and a drainage project to prevent flooding in the school.

Meanwhile, the governor also received the emir, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, at Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina.

The emir expressed satisfaction that a in the state were recording bumper harvest adding that he was also impressed by the renovation of schools carried out by the present administration in the  emirate.

He assured that prayers would continue to be offered in the emirate for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations in the country.
