Trading Ended on Cautious Note with 0.17% Growth

Weekly activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended on cautious note on Friday with a growth of 0.17 per cent.

Newsmen report that the market capitalisation rose by N27 billion or 0.17 per cent to close at N15.507 trillion against N15.480 trillion on Thursday.

The All-Share Index, which opened at 43,092.63 trillion, grew by 75.23 points or 0.17 per cent to close at 43,167.86.

Nestle led the price gainers’ table with N6 to close at N1,381per share.

Dangote Cement followed with a gain of N3 to close at N265, while Nigerian Breweries garnered N3 to close at N129.50 per share.

Lafarge Africa rose by N1.80 to close at N53, while Total increased by N1.80 to close at N242 per share.

On the other hand, Unilever recorded the highest loss to lead the price laggards’ table, shedding N2.40 to close at N62.20 per share.

GTBank trailed with a loss of N1.30 to close at N47.70, while Stanbic IBTC dipped by 85k to close at N48.50 per share.

Forte Oil declined by 80k to close at N44, while NASCON lost 65k to close at N23.90 per share.

However, the volume of shares traded closed higher with 1.54 billion shares valued at N19.71 billion achieved in 4,599 deals.

This was in contrast to the 574.81 million shares worth N3.39 billion traded in 4,340 deals on Thursday.

Access Bank was the most active stock for the day, trading 1.191 billion shares worth N15.484 billion in 4,340 deals.

Regency Alliance Insurance came second accounting for 43.32 million shares valued at N15.26 million, while Honey Well Flour exchanged 31. 96 million shares worth N82.86 million.

GTBank sold 29.05 million shares valued at N1.39 billion, while Diamond Bank traded 25.74 million shares worth N58.24 million.
