Sokoto Govt Revamps Girls Schools At N180m

Full Reopening of Schools

The Sokoto State Government has reconstructed two Girls’ Arabic Secondary Schools in Sokoto city at the cost of N180 million.

The Executive Secretary of the State’s Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Alhaji Ahmad Baba-Altine, named the schools as the Amina Ahmadu Bello Girls’ Arabic Secondary School, ‘Yar-Gabas, and Government Girls’ Arabic Secondary School, Sabon-Birni.

Baba-Altine said all the structures had been completed and put to proper use. He said the board had provided furniture and other necessary working materials to the two schools.

”The gesture of the state government is to further promote girl-child education. ” It is also to further provide equal opportunities for boys and girls to acquire both western and Islamic education.

It is also worthy of note that all the Junior and Senior Arabic Secondary Schools under the board are operating an integrated system of education,” he said.

”This means that their syllabus encompasses science, Islamic and humanity fields,” the executive secretary said. He urged parents and guardians to enroll their wards in the schools.

They should also ensure their retention and completion of the schools and not to withdraw them for marriages or other purposes,” he stated.
