Sokoto Gets N430m Generators For Water Board

The Sokoto State Government has purchased four generators worth over N430million for the state’s water board.

The General Manager of the board, Mr Moyi Tambuwal said:” Two of the generators with 1,500 KVA and 2,000 KVA capacities, have since arrived and they were being installed at the Bi-water and Rima main intake treatment plants. The remaining two, with 1,500 KVA and 2,000 KVA capacities are being expected to arrive Sokoto, anytime from now.”

”These are part of the efforts of the state government to complement the highly epileptic power supply from the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company,” he said.

The general manager lauded the state government for spending N26 million monthly on the purchase of four trucks of diesel for the board. He also said that efforts were made to increase the average daily production capacity of the board from 52 million gallons per day, to over 100 million gallons, per day.

” There are currently six mega-borehole projects that have reached between 60 to 90 per cent completion stage. Upon their completion and inauguration, these boreholes would provide an additional 40 million gallons, per day,” he added.

The general manager stated that these projects are located in Runjin-sambo, Rugar-Liman, Gagi, Tamaje, Mana and Old Airport, all in Sokoto metropolis and its environs.
