NSE Index Adds 0.96% on Unwavering Bull Momentum

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Friday, July 21, carried on with movements farther north as lead indices of the bourse grew in value.

As such, the All-Share Index soared by 324.44 points or 0.96 per cent to close at 34,020.27 against 33,695.83 achieved on Thursday.

Likewise, market capitalisation which opened at N11.613 trillion added N112 billion to close at N11.725 trillion, extending rally to the 12th consecutive session.

Price movements chart showed 25 gainers paired against 16 losers, with Lafarge WAPCO leading the advancers pack with a gain of 9.89 percent and closed at N60 per share.

Skye Bank followed with a  pgain of 5.80 percent to close at 73 kobo and Vitafoam gained 4.69 percent to close at N2.68. Zenith Bank gathered 4.08 percent to close at N22.95 while PZ added 3.53 per cent to close at N22 per share.

On the flip side, Berger and First Aluminium topped the losers’ chart, with a decline of N4.92 percent each to close at N6.77 per share and 58 kobo per share. Nigeria Police Force Micro Finance Bank trailed with a loss of 4.35 percent to close at N1.32 while Unity Banks and Meyer shed 4.11 per cent each to close at 70 kobo per share respectively.

Topping activity chart was Access Bank that, accounted for 115.82 million shares valued at N1.15 billion.

Zenith Bank came second with an exchange of 39.43 million shares worth N888. 4 million, while UBA sold 36.6 million shares valued at N328.3 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank transacted 27.62 million shares worth N1.03 billion and Skye Bank exchanged 20.03 million shares valued at N14.81 million.

The volume of shares traded appreciated by 97.56 per cent as investors staked N5.11 billion on 378.19 million shares in 4,516 deals. This is in contrast to 191.43 million shares worth N2.18 billion exchanged in 3,718 deals on Thursday
