NSE Index Up 0.4% As Week Ends in Upswing

Stock Market Dips Further In Face Of More Deals

 

Trading activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Friday, July 14, closed the week in the green as with previous trading days on the bourse.

The All-Share Index appreciated by 14.75 points or 0.04 per cent to close at 33,261.66 compared to 33,246.91 achieved on Thursday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation improved by five billion naira or 0.04 per cent to close at N11.463 trillion as against N11.458 trillion on Thursday.

An analysis of the price movement chart showed that Forte Oil led the gainers’ table with N2.67 to close at N56.17 per share. Beta Glass followed with a gain of N2.60 to close at N54.77 and Mobil Oil gained N1.00 to close at N260 per share. Dangote Cement added 89k to close at N209 and Cadbury added 59k to close at N12.56 per share.

On the flip side, Conoil declined by N1.57 to close at N29.98 per share. Oando trailed with a loss of 80k to close at N7.55 and GTBank shed 30k to close at N36.60 per share. CAP lost 26k to close at N35.44, while Flour Mills was down by 25k to close at N25 per share.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) for the second consecutive day remained the toast of investors, accounting for 103.19 million shares valued at N924.06 million.

Diamond Bank sold 44.84 million shares worth N57.42 million and FBN Holdings sold 36.87 million shares valued at N224.60 million.

Niger Insurance exchanged 16.36 million shares worth N8.18 million and Zenith International Bank sold 16.05 million shares valued at N353.05 million.

At the end of trading the volume of shares traded closed lower with a total of 311.61 million shares valued at N3.27 billion exchanged in 3,113 deals. This was in contrast with a turnover of 288.86 million shares worth N3.82 billion achieved in 3,631 deals on Thursday.
