NPA Earmarks N14.3billion for Lekki Deep Seaport

The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has marked down the sum of N14.3 billion as part of its financial commitment to the ongoing construction of Lekki Deep Seaport in 2016.
This fund is contained in NPA’s 2016 Budget and proposed capital project. The project is being built on a tripartite arrangement between the Federal Government, represented by the NPA, the Lagos State Government and private investors, represented by the Tolaram Group.

Also, the NPA is set to pay the sum of N800m to the contractor in charge of the rehabilitation of its headquarters in Lagos, but the sum of N1.2bn was approved in 2015 to settle the contractor’s financial requirement.

A breakdown of the proposed budget revealed that N450m was set aside to fence Warri Port while Pilot simulation training centre is to cost N150m.

It had in its 2015 budget allocated N20.4bn as balance of the Federal Government’s equity to the project. In the proposed budget, NPA said the projected revenues and expenditure were prepared based on assumptions that the official exchange rate shall remain around N197 to a dollar.
