Nigeria May Sue Turkish Airlines For Disrespect

Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has threatened to prosecute the Turkish Airlines for disrespecting the Consumer Protection Council CPC.

Minister of Justice issued a 21-day ultimatum to the international airline to respond appropriately to the request of the CPC or be prosecuted.

The consumer protector had requested from the international airline a detailed report of what happened on 20, 2015 when travelers it flew into Abuja from various locations could not locate their luggage on landing at the airport.

Passengers on the said flight, some of whom traveled with minors, complained about hardship they were subjected to by the airline to retrieve their luggage.

However, rather than providing a detailed report, the airline, according to the council, supplied information that were not useful and could not aid its investigation on the alleged abuse.

Based on the council’s request, the Director of Public Prosecution ordered that the airline should comply with the CPC’s request within 21 days or face prosecution.
