Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the dualisation of the road linking Plateau and Taraba states, describing the project as a major infrastructure intervention that will transform economic activities across the region.
The approved project will dualise the Mararaban Jama’a–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam corridor in Plateau State through to River Ibi in neighbouring Taraba State.
In a statement issued in Jos by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang said the road project reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits and promoting inclusive national development.
He noted that improved road connectivity would facilitate the movement of goods and services, lower transportation costs and support agricultural production across the North-Central and North-East regions.
The governor also said the project would stimulate commerce, attract investment, promote tourism and strengthen social and economic interactions between communities along the corridor.
According to him, the road represents more than physical infrastructure, as it would expand economic opportunities, create jobs and improve access to rural communities.
Mutfwang also acknowledged the contributions of APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, whom he credited with advocating for the project, and commended Minister of Works David Umahi for driving the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme.
He urged Plateau residents to support the administration’s development agenda, expressing confidence that the project would deliver long-term benefits for the state and the wider region.
