NBS' Yemi Kale Joins KPMG As Chief Economist

Yemi Kale has left the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for the Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) Nigeria, where he’s now serving as a partner and chief economist.

KMPC announced Kale’s appointment in a statement cited by BizWatch Nigeria.

“The Partners and staff of KPMG Nigeria are pleased to welcome Dr Oyeyemi Kale to our firm as he assumes the role of Partner and Chief Economist of KPMG Nigeria,” the statement read.

KPMG noted that Kale is expected to lead the firm’s view on macroeconomics and enhance the breadth of its solutions involving economic modelling.

“As our Chief Economist, Yemi will lead the Firm’s view on macroeconomics and enhance the breadth of our solutions involving economic modelling and macroeconomic analysis, in private and public sector clients.

“He has deep experience, gained from both the private and public sectors, in macroeconomic analysis, financial, economic, and investment research, and fiscal and macroeconomic policy advisory.”

About Yemi Kale

Kale holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Economics (first class), Addis Ababa University, and an M.Sc. (distinction) and Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He was appointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan as statistician-general of the federation and chief executive officer (CEO) of NBS in 2011, and he was reappointed for a second term of five years by President Muhammadu Buhari until 2021.
