NSE Index Up by 0.01% on Last Trading Day

    Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, sustained an upward trend on Friday, September 9, from the last two trading sessions to close the last trading day of week with a marginal increase of 0.01%.

    The All Share Index surged by 3.43 points to close at 27,577.52 points as Market Capitalisation closed at N9.473 trillion following a gain of N1.2 billion, while the Year to Date losses stands at -3.72%.

    Leading the day’s advancers was 7up with a gain of N6.45 to close at N146.45 per share, Conoil Plc followed with an appreciation of N2.2 to close at N23.79 per share, Guinness added N2.15 to close at N100 per share.

    Total Nigeria Plc grew N1.08 to close at N241.08 per share and PZ Cussons Plc increased by 73 kobo to close at N18.65 per share.

    Conversely, Nestle Nigeria Plc led the day’s declining stocks with a decline of N5 to close at N825 per share, WAPCO Plc followed with a depreciation of N2 to close at N56 per share, Nigerian Breweries Plc lost 75 kobo to close at N141.75 per share, BOC Gases Plc dropped 19 kobo to close at N3.70 per share and Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc depreciated 15 kobo to close at N3.85 per share.

    The top three traded stocks were: UBA Plc with the sale of 76 million shares worth N343.4 million, followed by Ikeja Hotel Plc that exchanged 37.3 million shares worth N67.9 million, and Diamond Bank Plc traded 28 million stocks valued at N33.8 million.

    At the end of trading, investors moved 272.8 million units of shares valued at N1.5 billion in 2,843 deals.
