It has been a long scarcity of Aviation fuel known as Jet A1 which crippled operations and saw lots of trips cancelled. However, normality has returned to the airports as the supply of aviation fuel is becoming stable.
According to Leadership’s correspondents, who paid a visit to the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MMA) in Lagos, the crowds at both terminals– the General Aviation Terminal and the MMA2 have disappeared.
An airport worker, Jamiu confirmed to the News agency that the airlines have been able to receive a normal supply of aviation fuel and that flights are now going as scheduled without most airlines having to merge flights as done during the shortage.
“There is no aviation fuel scarcity again. As of yesterday, it was like it wasn’t going to end soon, but now, as you can see, everything is moving on fine. Our 11am flight just left. We would have merged it with that of 1pm but there’s no need for merging flights anymore,” he said.
At the GAT, however, Arik Air recorded some delays. The airline’s 1pm flights to Abuja and Jos & Kaduna were delayed by one hour and 40 minutes respectively and the announcer cited “operational reasons.”
