2016 Olympics: Nigeria’s Team Plays At Night

Nigerian fans would have to stay up late at night to watch the Dream Team VI play its matches in the 2016 Olympics football tournament, holding in Rio, Brazil in August, this became evident after the draws were made on Thursday.

This brought to remembrance the Atlanta ’96, when fans had to keep vigils to watch Nigeria defeated Argentina by 3 – 2 in the final of the tournament to win the gold medal.

The Dream Team VI’s opening group B game against Japan would be played at the Amazonia Arena in Manaus with 9:00 pm kick off, (01:00 am Nigeria’s time), four-hours time difference between both countries.

The second group game would be at the same match venue on August 7 against European U-21 champions Sweden would began at 6:00 pm local time, (10:00 pm Nigeria), while the final group’s game against Colombia would be played at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paolo‎ on August 10 at 7:00 pm local time (11:00 pm Nigerian time).

Meanwhile, after the men and women draws held on Thursday, the Olympic Football Tournaments would have a total of 58 matches, with 32 teams.

Coincidentally, Siasia was in charge of the Nigerian Olympics Team 2012, who won a silver medal for Nigeria, losing to Argentina in the finals by a lone goal.
