NSE Index Gains 0.39% on Sustained Upward Trend

    Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, sustained previous day’s upward trajectory as the All Share Index scooped 0.39% to close at 27,559.03 points.

    Likewise, Market Capitalisation which is the total market value of all publicly quoted firms on the NSE also rose by N36.4 billion to close at N9.479 trillion. This is compared to N42.8 billion added on Tuesday to close at N9.442 trillion.

    Seplat Petroleum Plc led the day’s advancing stocks having improved by 10.25 percent or N28.18 to close at N303.18 per share, 7up Plc added 9.38 percent or N12.01 to close at N140 per share, PRESCO Plc followed with a growth of 9.16 percent or N3.80 to close at N45.30 per share, Axamansard Insurance Plc gained 4 percent or 8 kobo to close at N2.08 per share, and Continental Re-insurance Plc appreciated by 3.13 percent or 3 kobo to close at 99 kobo per share.

    On the flip side, Julius Berger Plc led the days retreating stocks following a decline of 9.71 percent or N4.70 in its share price to close at N43.69 per share, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc lost 5 percent or 7 kobo to close at N1.33 per share, May & Baker Plc and Wema Bank Plc both dropped 4.35 percent or 4 kobo and 3 kobo respectively to close at N88 kobo and 66 kobo each while Livestock Feeds Plc fell 4.30 percent or 4 kobo to close at 89 kobo per share.

    The top three traded stocks were: Access Bank Plc with the sale of 39.9 million shares worth N221.6 million, Diamond Bank Plc followed, trading 34.2 million stocks valued at N36.0 million and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc exchanged 33.3 million shares worth N883.2 million.

    The total value of stocks traded on the floors of the bourse amounted to N4.9 billion, while a total of 262.6 million shares exchanged hands in 3,302 deals.
