Nigerian Army to Close Down Markets Aiding Insurgency in the North-East.

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to shut down some markets in the Northern part of Nigeria.

Col. Sani Usman, the acting Director of Army Public Relations, who disclosed this on Tuesday at a news conference in Abuja, said there had been suspicions that traders in some markets in the North-East have been aiding insurgency by the Boko Haram sect. It is for this reason that, The Nigerian Army will shut downn designated markets in Yobe and Borno .

While withholding the names of the markets, he however appealed to residents of the affected areas to support the new measures, stressing that they were aimed at permanently ending the insurgency.
