Is Snapchat the New YouTube?

SnapChat

Popular image and video messaging application, Snapchat has reached an all-time high of 10 billion daily views.

Tagged one of the fastest growing social platforms, the company said it now has users watching 10 billion videos daily, up from 8 billion in February this year.

Following the release of Nigeria’s first snapchat movie “Snapped Nigeria”, the application has garnered a huge followership among tech-savvy and upward mobile individuals alike.

According to a Bloomberg report, people familiar with the matter stated, “More than a third of Snapchat’s daily users create ‘stories,’ broadcasting photos and videos from their lives that last 24 hours.”

The report added that Snapchat is sharing the new stories statistic with investors to help explain that its app is focused on serving people who create and broadcast content, not just consume it.

In a bid to rival Snapchat, Facebook recently announced a new feature that allows users to record video through the app to begin live streaming, the world’s most popular social network’s most recent figure – reported in 2015 – stands at 8 billion a day.

Meanwhile, YouTube keeps its cards close to its chest by stating that it gets “billions of views” every day.

However, it is likely that Snapchat could see the number of videos watched rise further.
