The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed appropriation bill of N79.3 billion for 2016.
The speaker, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi announced the passage of the bill during the House proceedings in Lafia after the acting chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Sani Isa (APC-Obi 1) presented its reports on the 2016 budget.
The majority leader of the House, Mr.Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North) moved the motion for the speedy passage of the bill to enable the state government deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
“The total amount approved is N79.301,850,598 billion comprising recurrent expenditure of N41,123,636,182 billion, representing 51.7 per cent, and capital expenditure of N38,178,214,416 billion, representing 48.3 per cent, for the 2016 fiscal year.”
The minority leader of the House, Mohammed Alkali (PDP-Lafia North), who seconded the motion said the passage of the bill would also enable the government to complete various ongoing projects and embark on new projects for the development of the state.
However, the speaker, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi directed the clerk to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor’s assent.
Abdullahi (APC-Umaisha/Ugya), urged the executive to ensure proper implementation of the budget and prompt release of funds to various ministries and agencies for speedy development of the state.
He lauded his colleagues for passing the budget into law, urging them to closely monitor the implementation of the fiscal policy for effective result.
