Participants at the one-day stakeholders’ forum came from various backgrounds including transport companies, transport unions, law enforcement agencies, NGOs and members of the public.
The forum’s communiqué recommended that Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) should set up deadline for all imported vehicles, “while National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) should ensure that vehicles manufactured in Nigeria are fitted with speed limiters.”
Members of the forum also resolved that state enforcement and enlightenment machinery should be activated to complement FRSC’s efforts and urged government to re-introduce tolling for the maintenance of the roads.
