The team, which won the first leg, played in Burundi a fortnight ago by a lone goal, thus qualified for the next round on 3-1 goals aggregate.
Wolfsburg player, Victor Osimhen scored the first goal in the 70th minute from the penalty kick after Samuel Chukwueze was fouled in Burundi’s goal area.
The Flying Eagles increased the tally in the 83rd minute, when team captain, Kelechi Nwakali’s well taken free kick beat Burundi’s goalkeeper hands down. The visitors, however, scored a consolation goal towards the end of the match.
In a statement released yesterday in Lagos, Globacom commended the team on the victory and urged them to work towards qualifying for the tournament.
Globacom advised: “The Flying Eagles should leave no stone upturned as they work toward qualifying for the 2017 African Youth Championship.”
