AMAA : A Night of Glamour

It was a night of glamour in the garden city as the stars stepped out in all their finery to celebrate Excellence at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) on Saturday, 11th June, 2016.

The AMA Awards which is in its twelfth year aims at honouring and promoting excellence in the African movie industry and also uniting the entire continent through arts and culture.

The Best Movie of the Year and Best Director awards went to Burkina Faso and Ghana respectively.

Although Nollywood lost out on the two major awards of the night, the African Movie Giant carted away 10 out of the 24 awards given out this year. South Africa came second with five awards; the budding Burkina Faso movie industry won four and Ghana came fourth with three awards.

The awards ceremony which was hosted by Chris Attoh, Mike Ezuruonye and Kgopedi Lilokoe, was held at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt.
