8TH Lagos Digital PR Summit Closes On High Note, Concludes AI-Powered Tools Have Come To Stay

The eighth edition of the Lagos Digital PR Summit, themed “Reinventing Public Relations Proficiencies with AI,” a transformative journey where the power of storytelling converges with cutting-edge artificial intelligence, came to a triumphant conclusion on October 19, 2023, at the iconic Sheraton Lagos Hotel.

The event, organized by the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in collaboration with Upticomm Marketing Company, brought together young-minded industry leaders, communication professionals, and technology enthusiasts to unravel the secrets of leveraging AI for unparalleled success in public relations practices. It was a two-day of insightful presentations, discussions, knowledge-sharing, and networking.

The Summit featured a powerhouse of keynote speakers and faculty, including the Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Access Corporation, Amaechi Okobi, and Founder and CEO of Duke of Shomolu Productions, Joseph Edgar, Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Nestle Nigeria Plc; Victoria Ndidiamaka Uwadoka, Head, Media Relations, Nigerian Communications Commission; Omoniyi Ibietan; and Chief Executive Officer, Precise Platforms Limited, Bolaji Okusaga, among others.

The Goodwill Ambassador of the Summit, the pioneering managing director of Hill+Knowlton Strategies Nigeria, Tokunboh George-Taylor, also graced the event. The Founder and Managing Director, Stephanie John & Associates, Uche Ajene, and PR Consultant and Founder, Mosron Communications, and Nigerian Women in PR, Tolulope Olorundero, moderated the fireside chats one after the other each day. Ambassadorship, fireside chats, blood pressure checks, and massage therapy are some of the innovative steps to deepen engagement.

The insightful presentations and discussions revolved around the transformative impact of AI on the PR landscape, offering attendees practical insights and strategies to leverage cutting-edge technologies in their work.

The event witnessed the unveiling of the second Digital PR Digest, the premier all-gloss business communication magazine featuring stories and developments in digital public relations, as well as how-tos and do-it-yourself nuggets in the growing field of practice, marking this year’s edition.

Another innovative idea is the pre-Summit Talkshop for Francophone countries, featuring high-level speakers from West Africa, Central Africa, North America, and Western Europe on X Spaces on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, driven by the event’s strategic media partner, Naole Media, based in France.

Speaking on the outcome of this year’s edition, the President of Upticomm Marketing Company, Segun McMedal, said, “The eighth Lagos Digital PR Summit was a great success, exceeding set metrics and showcasing the dynamic evolution of the communications industry. Our objective is to equip PR professionals with the most up-to-date resources and information, and this event has more than fulfilled that promise.”
