President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Lauretta Onochie, nominated his Special Assistant on Social Media as substantive chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), along with 14 other board members.
Buhari requested confirmation of the appointments in a letter to the Senate that included the list of nominees.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, Senate President Ahmad Lawan read the letter.
This is Buhari’s second time submitting a list of nominees for the NDDC board for confirmation.
In 2021, he sent the first list of nominees to the board, which the Senate screened and confirmed.
Lawan, on the other hand, stated that Buhari’s decision to send another list of nominees for confirmation was due to a flaw in the previous compilation.
