The Special Assistant to the President on Youths and Students Affairs, Nasir Sa’idu Adhama has called for reforms on government funding agencies to relax loan requirements for youths, for agriculture and other economic purposes
Adhama said “The reforms will help in meeting the capacity of the Nigerian Youths. We are working on a model which is lobbying and trying to have government relax criteria in giving out soft loans to youths.
“There are lots of facilities in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Bank of Industry (BOI) Nigeria, Exports and Imports Bank (NEXIM) Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) and so many others but when you go to seek for loans, they ask for annual returns or tax clearance of Five years which this is not possible because you can’t have them at a start-up,” he noted.
The youth advocate noted that “with the number of youth population in the country, the right support, the youths can help in the economic development of the nation “So what we are trying to do is have government agencies relax this criteria to meet the capacity of the Youth”
