According to data on the website of the Nigerian Communications commission, NCC, Etisalat and Airtel are the big gainers of number portability in 2015 as they both received over 80 percent of ported subscribers into their networks.
A total of 223,953 subscribers ported from their parent network to other networks between April 2015 and March 2016, indicating a high mobility of subscribers switching from one network to the other due to poor quality service or otherwise.
The data showed that relatively new entrants to the market, Etisalat emerged the major gainer in the mobile number portability, MNP, with 135,224 or 60.38 percent of subscribers porting to the network within the period under review.
It was followed by Airtel, which saw 59,553 or 26.60 percent of subscribers porting to its network.
MTN received a meagre 7,618 subscribers to its network, while Globacom recorded inward 17,618 subscribers during the period under review.
