Chibok Girls: Prioritise Rescue – Cleric

Pastor Tunde Bakare Ask FG to prioritise rescue of the Chibok gilrls

Activist, and convener of Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to prioritise the rescue of the missing Chibok girls, almost two years after they were kidnapped by terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Pastor Bakare made this call during a special prayer session organised by Bring Back Our Girls campaigner at the Latter Rain Assembly, a Lagos based church also founded by Bakare.

The prayer session was held to mark the two year anniversary of the abduction of over 200 girls in their hostel at government owned secondary school in Chibok, Borno State by the terrorists.

Pastor Tunde Bakare said that, in the face of the problems confronting Nigeria, there should be a better response to the continuous captivity of the girls.

He expressed hope that God who rescued Nigeria from its problems and would also ensure rescue of the schoolgirls.

Restating their demand, a co-convener of BBOG group, Aisha Yesuff, said that the prayer session was an indication that a united Nigeria would not only lead to the rescue of the girls but a total defeat of the dreaded militants.

The event attracted other participants including a federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, who promised to remind his colleagues on the need to prioritise the return of the Chibok girls.

BizWatchNigerria reported that the girls were kidnapped in April 14, 2014 under President Jonathan Goodluck.

Meanwhile, the parents of the Chibok girls have planned to hold a special second year memorial anniversary programme for them in their school premises to remind the world that their daughters were still with the terrorists.
