Following the need to find a lasting solution on sustainable funding of vaccines, Nigeria is leading discussions on how funding for their procurement would be sustained in Anglophone African countries, amidst signs that international donors would soon withdraw aids.
The meeting is also predicated on the shortfall in revenues to the countries in recent years.
Other nations-participants at the event, aimed at ensuring child mortalities in the countries are reduced through sustained vaccination, are Kenya, Uganda and Sierra-Leone.
The event holds in Abuja and is tagged “Anglophone African Peer Exchange Workshop,” with the theme “Sustainable Immunization Financing.
Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr. Ado Muhammad, noted that immunization remains the most cost-effective effort to save lives.
