Tobi Amusan, Nigeria’s finest athlete, won her first Diamond League race of the season in the women’s 100m hurdles on Sunday night.
Amusan won the hurdles with an outstanding timing of 12.52 seconds at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm.
Amusan beat Sarah Avalanche of Ireland, who finished second in 12.73 seconds, and Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland, who finished third in 12.78 seconds.
“I am excited to be out here competing and it is great to get the win on the back of Lausanne (silver),” Amusan said.
“The rain stopped but it was still very cold. I am not very happy with where I am but I trust in the process even when it is not necessarily processing right.”
Amusan finished second to Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico in the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday.
The reigning world champion and record holder finished with a season-best matching time of 12.47 seconds in the 100m hurdles.
Amusan had an outstanding 2022 season, winning gold medals at the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and World Athletics Championships.
She became Nigeria’s first global champion after clocking a wind-assisted 12.06 seconds, which was ineligible for a world record due to the +2.5 meter per second strong wind.
