Sen Umaru Provides N53.4bn On Electricity, Water

The senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Senator David Umaru has stated that the sum of N53.4 million has been expended within the past one year for the provision of potable water and rural electrification in his senatorial district.

Umaru stated that a total sum of N30.5 million has been expended to provide water to no fewer than 17 communities in the senatorial district. He also disclosed that N22.9 million was expended to procure and install transformers and other ancillary support to power supply in various communities within the senatorial district.

According to him, one number of 500 KVA transformer was purchased for Kuta and Erena communities while two numbers 300 KVA and one number 500 KVA transformers was purchased for some communities in Minna through the Millennium Development Goals.

He further revealed that he repaired the transformer of the Railway community in Minna and donated another 500 KVA transformer to Sauka-Kahuta community in Minna bringing a total of seven communities that benefited from the rural electrification project within one year.

On water supply, he stated that a number of boreholes were sunk in Garatu, Nakpala, Gotupe, Angwan Madi, Makera, Galapai, Biko, Tawo Kpamkpam, and Bmaida, while refurbishing and resuscitating some solar borehole in other six communities.
