Seven people have been killed and two others injured in a multiple road crash at Kara, Ibafo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident on Monday, saying the crash occurred shortly after midnight along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash: a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter.
The FRSC Ibafo Outpost Command received the report at about 4:04am and arrived at the scene approximately five minutes later, according to the agency.
All nine people involved in the crash were male, with seven fatalities and two injuries recorded.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed a fatal multiple road traffic crash that occurred at about 0003hrs on Monday, 24 August 2026, along the Ibafo–Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo. Preliminary information indicates that nine persons, all male, were involved in the crash. Sadly, seven persons were killed, while two persons sustained injuries,” said Chief Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsin.
“The crash was classified as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation (SPV) identified as the probable cause, subject to further investigation,” he added.
Ogun State Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speed, maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant.
He also advised motorists to exercise extra caution when driving at night, citing reduced visibility and fatigue as factors that could increase the risk of road crashes.
While commiserating with the families of the deceased, he wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
